RAMALLAH – Under tight protection of Israeli police, hundreds of settlers stormed the courtyards of Al Aqsa Mosque on Sunday on the sixth day of the Jewish Passover holiday.
The Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem reported that more than 600 settlers entered Al Aqsa from Bab Al Magharba conducting provocative tours and performing Talmudic rituals.
Israeli police intensified their military measures at the entrances to the Old City of Jerusalem and Al Aqsa Mosque.
The department emphasised that the Israel authorities take advantage of Jewish holidays to tighten restrictions on Palestinians and impose collective punishments on them by closing checkpoints, obstructing movement, and preventing Palestinians from accessing holy sites.
The extremist “Temple Mount Faithful” movement called for widespread incursions into Al Aqsa Mosque to offer the Passover sacrifices.
