WASHINGTON – Former US President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris dodged questions in Tuesday night’s debate about what they would do differently to bring an end to the nearly year-long Gaza war.
Vice President Harris was asked how she would broker a deal to end the war between Israel and Hamas.
She said: “What we know is that this war must end.” Harris said when pressed for her plan. “It must end immediately, and the way it will end is we need a cease-fire deal and we need the hostages.”
Harris said she would continue to work on a two-state solution “around the clock”, PBS reported Wednesday.
“In that solution there must be security for the Israeli people and Israel and in equal measure for the Palestinians,” Harris said.
“But the one thing I will assure you always, I will always give Israel the ability to defend itself and in particular, as it relates to Iran and any threat that Iran and its proxies posed to Israel. But we must have a two-state solution where we can rebuild Gaza where the Palestinians have security, self-determination and the dignity they so rightly deserve.”
