United Nations (UN) Secretary General Antonio Guterres said Thursday he is alarmed about civilian causalities after hostilities in Aleppo, Syria.

Spokesman for the Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric said, according to the UN, all parties have a clear obligation under international humanitarian law to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure according to UN Media Center.

The spokesman reported the UN’s call upon all actors to immediately de-escalate, exercise maximum restraint and take all measures to prevent further harm to civilians.

The UN continues to encourage all parties to demonstrate flexibility and goodwill on both the military and political tracks and to promptly resume negotiations in order to fully implement the March 10 agreement (with the Syrian Democratic Forces)
