CAIRO – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty said relations binding Egypt and Vietnam are “historic”.
This came during a meeting with his Vietnamese deputy foreign minister Nguyen Minh Hang.
Abdelatty referred to the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Vietnam last year and the remarkable development witnessed by bilateral relations over the past years.
On the level of economic and trade cooperation, the Foreign Minister pointed to Egypt’s keenness to strengthen bilateral relations in this field, noting the promising investment opportunities enjoyed by the Egyptian market and the facilities provided by the Egyptian government to foreign investors.
He pointed to the Egyptian side’s keenness to maximize the benefit from Vietnam’s expertise in the fields in which it enjoys a comparative advantage, especially in light of the advanced priority that Egypt gives to strengthening the investment structure and localizing industry.
The 10th round of political consultations between Egypt and Vietnam was held, with the Egyptian side headed by Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian, Australian, New Zealand and Pacific Affairs Ahmed Shaheen, while the Vietnamese delegation was headed by the Deputy Foreign Minister.
It was also agreed during the meeting to enhance cooperation between the business communities of the two countries and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industries, in addition to exchanging views on the most prominent international and regional issues of common interest.
