He expressed Egypt’s eagerness to strengthen economic and trade cooperation, particularly in the fields of electricity, renewable energy, water desalination, construction, and infrastructure.
He also emphasized the importance of cooperation in water resource management, culture, maritime shipping, logistics services, and opening regular channels for the migration of Egyptian workers to Malta.
Additionally, he stressed the desire to enhance cooperation in the tourism sector, including the operation of a direct flight route between Cairo and Malta.
The Foreign Minister expressed Egypt’s hope for a new round of the joint committee between the two countries to develop bilateral cooperation and coordinate on topics discussed within the European Union framework, in a way that serves the interests of both friendly nations.
He praised Malta’s important role as a member of the United Nations Security Council during 2023-2024 and expressed Egypt’s appreciation for Malta’s historic stance in officially recognizing the State of Palestine.
Abdelatty was keen to post the Maltese Foreign Minister on ongoing preparations for Egypt’s hosting of the International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction in Gaza, scheduled to be held in Cairo this November, and expressed his hope for Malta’s active participation in the conference.
The two ministers also exchanged views regarding the Libyan file.
Abdelatty affirmed the necessity of continuing efforts to advance the political process in Libya, which would lead to the simultaneous holding of presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible, and the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya to support stability.
