CAIRO – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty asserted Egypt’s support of Burkina Faso during the duration of the transition.
This came during his meeting with Burkina Faso’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Cooperation Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré to discuss bilateral ties.
In statements on Friday, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Tamim Khallaf said that the two ministers discussed the existing cooperation between the two countries and means to strengthen it.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of beefing up trade exchange between the two countries, expressing Egypt’s readiness to export Egyptian products to meet the needs of the market in Burkina Faso and seal deals for commodity exchange, the spokesman added.
Abdelatty also pointed out to the increasing activity of Egyptian companies in Africa, particularly in the fields of construction, pharmaceuticals and power plants.
The Egyptian government is keen on encouraging Egyptian companies to do business in Burkina Faso, he added.
Abdelatty also reviewed the escalation of terrorist threats in the Sahel and Lake Chad regions by terrorist groups and organizations in West Africa.
He underlined Egypt’s firm support for Burkina Faso’s efforts to combat terrorism and achieve security and stability, via supporting national institutional capabilities within the framework of training courses organized by the Egyptian Agency Of Partnership For Development (EAPD).
The two ministers also exchanged views on a host of regional issues of mutual interest, particularly in the Sahel and Horn of Africa regions.
