JOHANNESBURG- Egypt is working with the US and other partners to advance second phase of Sharm el-Sheikh Agreement and push toward a two-state solution, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said Sunday during talks with Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan on the sidelines of the G20 Summit.
According to the foreign minister, Cairo seeks to expand economic cooperation with Singapore following the Singaporean president’s 2025 visit, urging Singaporean companies to increase investment in sectors including, renewable energy, semiconductors and water desalination.
Abdelatty also highlighted incentives in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE).
He further voiced Egypt’s interest in strengthening ties with Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and joining its financial working group, briefing Singapore on Egypt’s stance on Gaza, Lebanon and Yemen.
Cairo renewed its invitation to Singapore to partake in Egypt’s planned conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza.
