The European Union Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, emphasized the importance of achieving unified and legitimate institutions and holding national elections in Libya.
His remarks came during discussions with the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.
The meeting focused on the EU’s potential role in resolving Libya’s political crisis and addressing divisions while maintaining stability.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Ambassador Orlando underlined the EU’s commitment to supporting Libyan stability and political progress.
“We will explore opportunities to enhance cooperation through EU programs, including improving the management of Libya’s southern borders,” Orlando stated.
He also reaffirmed the EU’s full support for the newly appointed UN Special Representative to Libya, Hanna Serwaa Tetteh.
