CAIRO – Egypt’s ambassador to the Czech Republic Mahmod Afifi has stressed that Cairo has a firm stance on supporting the Palestinian cause.
The diplomat’s remarks came on Friday at a meeting with ambassadors of the Arab group in Prague and a number of Islamic countries with the Czech foreign minister to review the latest developments of the Gaza Strip crisis.
Afifi reiterated that Egypt backs the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The diplomat also highlighted, according to MENA, Egypt’s great efforts to contain the crisis at all levels and reach a full ceasefire deal and put an end to the forced displacement and serious violations against Gazans.
For his part, the Czech minister lauded the pivotal role played by Egypt at both political and humanitarian levels to end the crisis, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
