CAIRO – Director of the Egyptian Center for Strategic Studies (ECSS) Khaled Okasha said Egypt’s joining BRICS bloc is considered a quantum leap in its relations with all member countries, highlighting the active Egyptian contribution to re-establish a new multipolar global economic system that stands out against the dollar’s status as the dominant world currency.
Okasha told MENA, in comments on Egypt’s receiving an invitation by BRICS leaders to have a permanent membership in the bloc as of 2024, that the move is aiming to promote the comprehensive Egyptian national project through more future partners.
Egypt’s official accession to the bloc will open up new vistas of cooperation for it at the economic, political and diplomatic levels, he said.
He noted the growth potential of BRICS countries; Brazil, Russia, India and China, who together account for about 30 percent of the global GDP.
