CAIRO – Egypt condemned the storming of Al Aqsa Mosque by some Israeli government officials and Keenest members, as well as a group of settlers, as part of the so-called flag march.
In a statement released by the Foreign Ministry late Thursday, Egypt said such irresponsible escalation agitates angry feelings and fuels tensions in the occupied territories.
“Egypt calls for respecting the legal and historical status quo in Jerusalem, asserting that East Jerusalem is an integral part of the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel since June 1967, in violation of the rules of international law and the decisions of international legitimacy that do not recognize the annexation of lands by force,” the statement concluded.
