CAIRO – Egypt strongly condemned the Israeli occupation’s bombing of a school housing displaced people west of Deir al-Balah in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the death and injury of dozens.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt also condemned the Israeli army’s attacks on sites and equipment belonging to UNIFIL forces in southern Lebanon, which led to the injury of two peacekeepers, in addition to gunfire directed at another United Nations site in Ras al-Naqoura, causing damage to vehicles and communication systems.
The ongoing crimes of the Israeli army for over a year without international accountability have encouraged the occupation forces to openly violate international law and humanitarian standards, challenging the international community.
This behavior has weakened the rules-based international order and undermined the credibility of international parties that have traditionally supported human rights, justice, and humanitarian values, but have stayed silent in the face of repeated violations, revealing a clear double standard, the statement read.
Egypt has called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, urging further efforts to reduce escalation and ease tensions, while emphasizing the importance of the Israeli occupation army’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of United Nations personnel and property.
