CAIRO – Zhang Tao, Charge d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, hailed Egypt’s positive role in achieving peace and stability in the Middle East.
Zhang added, at a press conference at the headquarter of the embassy in Cairo, that Beijing supports the Palestinian cause and the Palestinians’ right to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He said China was one of the countries which recognized the State of Palestine, adding that Chinese President Xi Jinping launched an initiative to find a solution to the Palestinian cause based on the two state-solution and resumption of negotiations between Israel and Palestine.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, the Chinese leader said Israel must cease fire in order to avoid further destruction.
