Ceasefire agreement comes into effect in Gaza Strip

GAZA CITY – The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip went into effect on Sunday. 

The first phase of the agreement will span 42 days. 

The aid trucks have begun entering the Gaza Strip from the Egyptian side. 

AlQahera News Channel said that the trucks are carrying humanitarian aid that will be provided to the residents of the Gaza Strip with the start of implementing the ceasefire agreement.

Israeli media outlets, meanwhile, said that the Gaza ceasefire started at 11:15 a.m. local time. 

The announcement from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office came after Hamas handed over the names of hostages it plans to release on Sunday.

The first stage of the truce was originally slated to begin this morning at 8:30 a.m., but was delayed after Hamas was late in handing over the list of the three female hostages to be freed this afternoon.
