NEW DELHI/LONDON – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson arrived in India Thursday on a two-day visit.
Johnson will discuss strengthening security co-operation in meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The Prime Minister will also use this week’s visit to drive progress in negotiations on the landmark UK-India free trade agreement, which is expected to help double our trade and investment by 2030,” Johnson’s office said.
Johnson performed down the prospects that he might persuade Modi to toughen India’s stance on Ukraine, according to The Guardian.
India, which has a longstanding relationship with Russia, declined to support a UN motion criticising Vladimir Putin’s military operation in Ukraine.
