AMMAN – First Deputy Speaker of the Jordanian Parliament Abdul Rahim Maayah asserted that the Jordanian-Bahraini summit held in Aqaba and the Egyptian-Bahraini summit held in Cairo on Wednesday came at very important time and highlighted the pivotal role of Egypt and Jordan towards the Palestinian cause and other regional issues.
In statements to MENA, Maayah said on Thursday that both summits asserted the necessity to stop the war in the Gaza Strip and de-escalate the region.
Maayah said the two summits tackled a host of Arab issues topped by the Palestinian cause and the importance of having a political horizon for the Arab issues.
He highlighted the effective role of Egypt and Jordan in the Middle East, adding that they are working on achieving security and stability in the region and the Arab world.
The summits come days before the Arab summit due in Manama in May, he said.
Egypt and Jordan are the countries most affected by the war and its repercussions in the world and the region, he said, pointing out that humanitarian aid supplies provided by Cairo and Amman contributed to the attempts to ease humanitarian situation for the Gazans during the Israeli aggressive war.
Maayah urged the international community to coordinate with Egypt and Jordan to stop the Israeli pressure on the Palestinians whether in the West Bank or the Gaza Strip.
