The Arab League has welcomed the reunification of the Central Bank of Libya by the governor in Tripoli and his deputy in Benghazi, after almost a decade of division.
The pan-Arab organization spokesman, Gamal Roshdy, said in a statement on Monday that the decision represents an important step to reunify the rest of Libyan institutions.
The bank governor Sadiq al-Kabir made the announcement at the bank’s headquarters in Tripoli after a meeting with Deputy Governor Mari Muftah Rahil and department heads from both Tripoli and Benghazi branches.
