Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit warned that conditions in the occupied West Bank could explode as the Israeli oppression and siege continue.
Israel is providing outlawed settlers with arms and this could lead to further violence, Abul Gheit said.
Israel is waging a real war on the West Bank, that has left 163 Palestinians dead since October 7, Spokesman for the pan-Arab organization Gamal Roshdi, said in a press release, relayed by the MENA news agency. More than 2,000 Palestinians have since been detained from the West Bank, Roshdi added.
Settlers’ violence against Palestinians in the West Bank has reached unprecedented levels that cannot possibly go unnoticed, the release quoted the AL chief as saying.
The entire world has been watching as Israeli settlers attack Palestinian houses and destroy their property, Abul Gheit said.
These “hateful, racist acts that should be denounced and revealed to the world. Such acts are a humiliation to every man who believes in human equality”, the AL chief was quoted as saying.
Israel is still seeking to annex vast areas of the West Bank after evacuating the Palestinian residents, he said.
The current far-right government of Israel would not hesitate to apply the transfer policy to push the Palestinians in the West Bank to the other side of the border, according to Abul Gheit.
The AL chief stressed full support for Jordan, which is strongly against this policy, and the brave Palestinian people, who are struggling on their lands in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, Roshdi said.
