CAIRO – Extraordinary meetings of Arab foreign ministers kicked off Sunday at the Arab League (AL) headquarters in Cairo to review the developments in Syria, Sudan and Palestine.
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, the current president of the AL council’s session, is chairing the extraordinary meetings in the presence of AL Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit.
On Saturday, the AL council convened at the level of permanent delegates , under Egypt, at the premises of the AL General Secretariat, to prepare for Sunday’s meetings.
Throughout the past period, a number of meetings have been held among the Arab foreign ministers to address the situation in Syria, which has suspended its AL activities since the year 2011.
The AL council’s extraordinary session will discuss the developments of the Palestinian cause as well the continued Israeli violations, including the fierce and systematic provocations carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities in Al Quds city and at Al Aqsa mosque compound, said Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the AL Ambassador Muhannad al Aklouk in statements on Sunday.
