CAIRO – The Arab League (AL) called on the international community to take serious steps to end the Israeli occupation and provide the Palestinian people with international protection.
The pan-Arab body made the appeal on Thursday on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the Land Day, which falls on March 30 every year, urging to oblige the Israeli occupation forces to abide by the international law and resolutions and the Arab peace initiative.
In a press statement, the AL praised the struggle of the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate rights and establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The AL also reaffirmed its full support for the Palestinian people, calling on the UN Security Council to pressurize the occupation forces to stop their violations against Palestinians.
The Land Day will remain an immortal day in the history of the Palestinian people as it embodies sacrifices of the Palestinian people since 1948, the statement read.
The AL as well paid tribute to the Palestinian martyrs, who sacrificed their souls in defense of their homeland.
