BAGHDAD – The activities of the 34th conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) began on Saturday in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, in the presence of the heads of Arab parliaments, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.
Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Muhammad al-Halbousi received a number of his Arab counterparts participating in the conference, which is held in Baghdad for the period between February 25-26.
“Al-Halbousi received the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, Aqila Saleh Issa, the Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament, Sultan Saeed Abdullah Al-Barakani, the Speaker of the Qatari Shura Council, Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, and the President of the UAE Federal National Council, Saqr Ghubash, the head of the Saudi Shura Council, Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Sheikh, and the head of the Algerian National People’s Assembly, Ibrahim Boghali,” according to a statement by Halbousi’s media office.
Halbousi on Friday welcomed the Arab brothers in the capital Baghdad.
