Activities of the preparatory meeting of the Economic and Social Council for the Arab League Summit due in Jeddah on May 19 started on Monday.
During the meeting, Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed al Jadaan welcomed the return of Syria to the Arab League, adding that he is looking forward to working with all to achieve the aspirations of the Arab peoples.
The successive global crises and developmental and economic challenges showed the importance of economic integration between the Arab countries, Jadaan said.
Saudi Arabia is keen on providing the suitable circumstances to achieve economic stability and growth in the region, he said, adding that it developed a number of initiatives to face the challenges in the world and the Arab region.
Saudi Arabia presented 10 billion dollars to maintain Arab food security and presented a number of initiatives to face economic challenges in the region.
