Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit called for Arab solidarity to protect the water sovereign rights and guarantee food security in the Arab countries.
This came in Abul Gheit’s word on Wednesday to the inaugural session of the 4th Arab Water Conference that was delivered on his behalf by Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League and Head of the Media and Communication Sector Ahmed Rashid Khattabi.
Abul Gheit asserted that the Arab water security is an issue of national security, adding that a big share of the water resources comes from outside the Arab region.
He asserted that the resolutions that resulted from COP 27 will be implemented including establishing a fund for losses and damages resulting from the climate changes.
He said that the Arab League is ready to give full support to the decisions of the Arab ministerial water council including facing the illegal practices of the Israelis in Palestine.
