Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit asserted the ceremony, which was held by the pan-Arab organisation to commemorate Nakba Day is a remembrance of heinous crimes and massacres committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people.

In a word on the occasion, which was delivered on his behalf by Assistant Secretary General Head of Palestine Sector Saeed Abu Ali Monday, Abul Gheit said this anniversary is also a reminder that international justice is still absent and tortures of the Palestinian people are going on.

Abul Gheit welcomed a decision by the UN General Assembly to commemorate the Day at the UN’s premises.

He said the international community should shoulder its responsibility towards putting an end to the oppression of the Palestinians.

However, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi warned from the deteriorating situation in the Palestinian territories.

This came on Monday in Safadi’s phone call with Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt.

They also discussed the latest developments of the Syrian crisis and the importance of the Arab role in the efforts exerted to reach a political solution to end the suffering of the Syrians.

Safadi asserted that the committee that was formed by the Arab League
