Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit has condemned Israel’s recent measures to legalise some settlement outposts and plans to build more outposts in the West Bank.
In a statement read out by his official spokesman Gamal Roshdy on Monday, the Arab League chief said such measures are against the will of the international community and flout the international law and at the same time reflect the nature of the new hardline Israeli government and pose a threat to regional stability.
The Arab League chief called on the international community to shoulder the responsibility of compelling Israel to respect the international law.
He accused the international community of using a double standard policy towards the Palestinian cause.
According to the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, the Israeli Security Cabinet on Sunday decided to legalize nine illegal outposts in the occupied West Bank and turn them into new settlements.
