CAIRO – The 41st session of the Arab Interior Ministers Council will kick off in Tunis on Monday under the sponsorship of Tunisian President Kais Saied at a time of rising tensions in the Middle East in light of the continued Israeli war on the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, Houthi attacks on ships transiting Bab al-Mandab Strait and repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
High-level delegations representing Arab countries in addition to representatives from the Arab League, Interpol, UN Office on Drugs and Crime, UN Office of Counter Terrorism and Naif Arab University for Security Sciences are attending the session.
The session was preceded by preparatory meetings on Saturday to discuss topics tabled on the agenda.
The session is to discuss a number of topics related to challenges besetting the Arab world, including terrorism, cyber crimes and cross-border crimes as well as the 11th Arab security plan, the 9th Arab media plan for security awareness and media prevention in addition to a number of reports and recommendations.
