Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, announced on Sunday that 24 countries are now helping the nation after devastating earthquakes hit its central coast on Thursday.
These countries have sent 521 tons of supplies, 86 search-dog teams, and more than 2,740 rescue workers to help local teams. Emergency crews, including firefighters and medical staff, are working hard across the hard-hit state of La Guaira to find survivors.
The rescue efforts have already saved lives. Last night, workers successfully pulled an 11-year-old boy alive from the rubble of a collapsed building in Caraballeda. Rodríguez shared the good news on social media, writing that “every life is hope for Venezuela.”
According to the latest official numbers, the earthquakes have killed 1,430 people and injured 3,238 others.
