The 13th meeting of the committee of legal experts in charge of upgrading the mechanism of resolving disputes within the framework of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA) kicked off on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Arab League’s General Secretariat.
The three-day meeting, chaired by Egypt, brings together experts and representatives of relevant bodies and the Arab ministries of economy.
The meeting aims at implementing the decisions of the AL Economic and Social Council that stressed the necessity of developing the dispute settlement mechanism within GAFTA as soon as possible.
Participants are scheduled to discuss an item on reviewing the preamble to the dispute settlement mechanism and articles that were postponed in the previous meetings, including an article on consultations between the parties to the conflict before resorting to the dispute settlement committee.
