talabat, one of the leading food and grocery delivery apps in Egypt and the Middle East, has just launched new programmes for its riders in Egypt to help enhance the efficiency and service level provided to its customers. The package includes insurance coverage against accidents, a partnership with Bajaj auto, e-wallet support, launching “walkers” and increasing the number of bicycle riders by 25% as well as female riders.
“Our riders are our heroes on the ground, and I am extremely happy that our logistics team worked hard to make this happen.” Said Hadeer Shalaby talabat Egypt’s Managing Director, “Through these new initiatives, we are aiming to enhance our heroes’ safety, which is our top priority, and their overall wellbeing to help improve their work conditions and quality of life,” she added.
Moreover, talabat’s agreement with the leading motorcycle supplier GB Bajaj Auto facilitates rider payments. The partnership includes a special programme for talabat riders who want to purchase their own motorcycles, with affordable instalment packages from 4 to 24 months without down payments. GB Bajaj Auto also offers special prices on maintenance and after sales support for talabat riders. In addition, GB Bajaj Auto offers training sessions for new motorbike riders to be able to join the talabat fleet.
Abdelaziz Sarhan, talabat’s Logistics Director also noted that talabat “is always looking to improve the riders’ working conditions. We are very proud to be partnering with e-payment market leaders in Fawry and WeAccept.” An important part of this programme is the riders’ payment facilitation and collection.
Talabat has partnered with Fawry and WeAccept to provide e-wallet solutions that enables the riders to receive their financial dues faster while eliminating the need for direct cash transactions to minimise the risk of Covid-19.
talabat also launched a new “walkers” model to increase job opportunities by giving the chance for people who do not own a bike or a bicycle to have a job and earn a steady income. “Walkers will surely cover a much shorter distance than other riders, but we see this as a great chance to create more and different employment opportunities for the Egyptian community” added Hadeer. The first phase of the program has been launched with 100 Walkers only, with an aim to increase the number of walkers by 5x as the model proves its success.
It is also worth mentioning that talabat has an ongoing agreement with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to help bicycle-riders join their riders’ network through “Dragtak Sehetak” initiative.
Finally, talabat has solid plans to increase the number of female riders in an effort to improve gender equality and provide women with wider employment opportunities. And they recently launched a new freelance riders’ model, where riders can join the talabat fleet directly and work short hours with a flexible schedule.
“We believe that our new freelance riders’ model will attract young Egyptians and help them earn extra income. It does not end there, talabat is committed to creating more programs to support the Egyptian community and help support the economy, stay tuned” Hadeer concluded.
