Schneider Electric, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, and Ain Shams University signed a memorandum of understanding to provide financial ,technical support and laboratory equipment needed to teach the IEC60364 course within the Energy Engineering credit hours course at Ain Shams University’s Faculty of Engineering. Schneider Electric will also equip a student laboratory for designing networks, smart buildings, and renewable energy. The memorandum was signed in the presence of Hany Shaltout, Solutions Development Vice President for Schneider Electric North East Africa and Levant, and Dr. Walid El-Khattam, Director of the Center of Excellence for Energy in the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University.

Eng. Hany Shaltout, Solutions Development Vice President for Schneider Electric North East Africa and Levant., said: “Schneider Electric is keen to participate in initiatives that achieve the development of the human resources and increase the efficiency of the professional capabilities of Egyptian engineers. Schneider Electric sees Egypt as a gateway for its expansion in Africa, enhancing the digital infrastructure of African partners, and improve energy efficiency. Through our cooperation with the Center of Excellence for Energy, Schneider Electric will provide the financial and technical support and laboratory equipment necessary to teach the IEC60364 course within the Energy Engineering credit hours course. Schneider Electric will equip a student lab for designing networks, smart buildings, and renewable energy, and develop curricula for energy and renewable energy programs courses to match the 2018 Schneider Electric guide and in accordance with the IEC standards. We will also developan experimental guide for students in some subjects and give students participating in the training access to our EIG-Wiki version of the guide.”

The agreement allows students of the Credit Hours Department, Division of Energy Engineering, to study the International Electrical Installations Code IEC-60364 and the Egyptian Code for the Design of Electrical Networks, which strongly qualifies them to join the Egyptian labor market through the theoretical and practical study of the code through scientific materials and simulation devices that Schneider Electric will provide to the faculty’s laboratories.

The establishment of the Center of Excellence for Energy followed Ain Shams University winning three partnerships in the fields of energy, water, and agriculture, which were identified by Egypt in 2030 Vision to lead research and innovations. Ain Shams is the only Egyptian university participating in the threefields at the level of Egyptian universities.
