Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) Amr Talat said the ministry aims at turning Egypt into a regional and international hub for various information technology specialisations, noting that several international companies are seeking to set up outsourcing centres in Egypt.

The minister’s remarks were made the inauguration of an annual career expo of the Information Technology Institute (ITI) held on May 29 to June 20 for graduates of ITI who are specialized in the electronics industry with the participation of 60 local and international companies offering 1,800 job opportunities.

The minister said the ministry’s top priority is for building digital capabilities and expanding the base of IT professionals, adding that the ministry is planning to expand in the training programs at the various levels to reach over the coming five years from 4,000 trainees t 250,000 trainees in the current year.
