The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Egypt (NTRA) has directed the four mobile operators in Egypt’s market to provide 1GB of internet free-of-charge for the new users registering and creating accounts on My NTRA during March 10-April 1, 2022, to be valid within a week. This step comes in line with NTRA’s keenness on reinforcing communication with users and encouraging digital transactions, rather than traditional, to utilize services. It also copes with the State’s policy to uphold digital transformation.
Telecom users are able, via My NTRA, to avail of all service-related information to support their decision on the best operator to deal with and receive a collection of interactive services. In fact, number as well as count of lines registered with the user’s name could be recognized without any need to visit telecom branches in person. Also, location and address of mobile operators’ outlets across Egypt’s market could be also identified and the ranking of the best operators with respect to voice and data services, at areas chosen by user, could be also deduced. Furthermore, entertainment services could be inquired about or cancelled by users, after the complaints of paying extra amounts to monthly packages had been investigated by NTRA.
The first version of My NTRA was actually launched by NTRA at the end of the last year. My NTRA is also considered one of the leading apps worldwide with regard to the number of integrated services provided for users. It also had the lead then, among the most downloaded free apps, on App Store and Play Store, with more than 1.200.000 downloads.
