Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty emphasized on Saturday the importance of expanding the deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to bolster development and infrastructure efforts across the African continent.
Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with visiting African Union (AU) Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy Lerato Mataboge.
During the meeting, Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s desire to strengthen cooperation with the AU Commission in this vital field.
The meeting tackled ways of enhancing bilateral ties and supporting regional development frameworks.
The top Egyptian diplomat congratulated Commissioner Mataboge on her appointment as the AU commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy.
He underscored Egypt’s confidence in her leadership to achieve the economic aspirations of the continent and implement the goals of the African Union Agenda 2063.
Abdelatty highlighted Egypt’s commitment, through its current presidency of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee, to facilitate the implementation of the Program for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA).
He added that these efforts are essential for advancing continental infrastructure projects and regional connectivity.
For her part, Commissioner Mataboge expressed appreciation for Egypt’s active role in supporting continental integration and development.
She affirmed her aspirations to enhance cooperation with Egypt in energy and infrastructure sectors to fulfill the AU’s objectives and the aspirations of the African people.
