CAIRO – Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said the government is keen to proceed with executing the projects aimed at developing the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector, for being a key pillar for upgrading other sectors.

Madbouli’s comments came during his meeting with Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat to follow up on the progress made in implementing a number of ICT projects.

The minister said Egyptian technology startups were ranked first in terms of the number of venture capital (VC) deals in the Middle East and North Africa.

Talaat briefed the premier on his ministry’s efforts to increase digital services exports, through seeking to open up new markets and working to lure further foreign investments in technology start-ups.

He also updated the prime minister on the proposals for implementing Egypt’s first digital city project, which targets boosting the country’s digital services’ exports and raising the number of workers in this vital sector.
