CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar on Saturday paid an inspection visit to the Egyptian Space Agency (EgSA), accompanied by CEO of the Agency Mohamed el-Qousi.

The tour included the agency’s Satellite Assembly, Integration and Test Center (AIT), the first in the Arab world and the second at the regional level, the African Space Agency’s building, a monitoring and control building, the AIT administrative building, a lab facility, an engineering prototyping lab, a space environment laboratory, and a space solar cell laboratory.

Qousi briefed the minister on EgSA theoretical and practical training programs for students of Egyptian universities, which involves assigning space projects to student groups as graduation projects.

He also touched upon the Egyptian University Training Moon project, which saw the participation of nearly 200 students from 17 universities to create engineering prototypes for satellite subsystems.

Meanwhile, Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry Spokesman Adel Abdel Ghaffar said that the government pays great attention to space and satellite technology, given its vital role in achieving sustainable development, highlighting the ministry’s efforts to entrench space technology at Egyptian universities and promote student awareness of space and satellite research programs and specialties to produce a generation of qualified satellite specialists.

The minister also toured the agency’s library and conference rooms.(MENA)
