The Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI) is participating in the 17th International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX Abu Dhabi 2025), February 17-21 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
The event, held under the theme “Advanced Defense: Innovation, Integration, and Resilience,” is being held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates.
The AOI’s presence within the official Egyptian pavilion reflects commitment to showcasing cutting-edge defense technologies and fostering international collaboration.
Major General Engineer Mokhtar Abdel Latif, Chairman of the AOI, has engaged with key figures.
AOI representatives are actively participating in conference sessions, contributing to discussions on the latest advancements in defense industries and emerging technologies.
IDEX Abu Dhabi serves as a critical platform for global defense and armament stakeholders, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and promoting partnerships.
Focusing on critical issues facing the defense sector, the conference program includes sessions dedicated to global disruptions and defense preparedness, securing critical supply chains, the impact of misinformation and influence operations, and the evolving space domain.
The second session of the Conference focussed on “Disinformation and Influence Operations: The Weaponisation of Information in Modern Conflicts,” highlighting the intersection of technology and politics, where information has become a powerful tool in modern conflicts.
Panellists discussed disinformation tactics, the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in advancing misinformation campaigns, and their impact on the stability of societies and political systems.
The session examined the techniques used by state and non-state actors, the influence of AI and deepfake technology in misinformation campaigns, the ethical implications of using information as a weapon, and the role of social media platforms in spreading disinformation.
It also delved into strategies for detecting and countering misinformation, as well as collaboration between governments, the private sector, and civil society organisations to build a resilient information environment.
The event will conclude with a session outlining strategic recommendations for future defense programs.
