Egypt, represented by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), is participating in the 26th Annual Shared Services and Outsourcing Week (SSOW), organized by Shared Service and Outsourcing Network (SSON), on March 21-24, in Florida, USA.
Egypt has long been an attractive GBS location for multinationals with its large, well-educated talent pool, strategic location, European time zone, and reliable infrastructure. This has augmented the country’s position and rankings as a Primary Location for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for global IT and business services by Gartner, IDC, and other leading organizations.
Building on this momentum, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has launched “Digital Egypt Strategy for the Offshoring Industry 2022-2026” to propel the sector on a higher growth trajectory.
The new digital strategy is designed to triple the export revenue for Egypt from digitally-enabled offshoring services – with 19% CAGR (2022-2026) and create and increase sustainable employment opportunities in the offshoring services industry with a focus on high-value services adding 215,000 jobs over the next five years.
Additionally, Egypt seeks to establish a recognizable brand name in emerging digital services/technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Advance Analytics and Embedded (SW and chipset design).
Cairo is already home to more than 150 global IT& BPO delivery centers and the country continues to attract investments of Fortune 500 companies like Amazon, Uber, Dell and IBM. The Egyptian IT and business services exports have been increasingly growing at a double-digit rate fueled by a multi-lingual talent pool of 600K+ annual graduates, the largest in the Arab speaking world and second largest in EMEA.
In the technology innovation scene, Egypt is leading in MENA region where it has secured the largest number of investment deals in tech startups and attracted global VCs and investors on the hunt for innovations, tech-powered solutions.
ITIDA is the executive arm of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). Since its establishment in 2004, ITIDA has been spearheading the development of Egypt’s IT and business services industry and advocates its value proposition.
