CAIRO– Egypt launched Nexsat-1 on Saturday two months after launching Misr-Sat 2.

The Egyptian state pays unprecedented attention to the fields of space technology as they are promising fields for the future.

The Egyptian Space Agency (EGSA) is working on owning satellite technology and establishing a galaxy of satellites that would contribute to boosting Egypt’s pioneering role in Africa in the field of technology and space science.

In statements to MENA, Head of communications and space navigation department in EGSA Haitham Medhat said that Germany contributed to supplying the sub systems of the satellite while the Egyptian side programmed it.

Misr-Sat 2, launched on December 4, serves the Egyptian aims of sustainable development via using space technology to develop pivotal fields, including agriculture, discovering mineral wealth, determining the resources of surface water and studying the impact of climate change on the environment to contribute to supporting Egypt’s economy in addition to boosting Egypt’s pioneering role via providing training programs to qualify specialized cadres in Africa and the Middle East.
