Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat emphasized the communications and IT sector is one of the key supporters of the national economy, particularly in the field of outsourcing.

The minister’s remarks came during a meeting Indian Ambassador to Egypt Shri Suresh K. Reddy to discuss the current vistas of cooperation between Egypt and India in the communications and IT sector, and strengthen collaboration in outsourcing, digital capacity-building, startup support, and artificial intelligence.

The meeting also explored mechanisms to attract more Indian investments into Egypt’s ICT sector.

The minister pointed out to the joint successes achieved in the sector, including the presence of several Indian IT companies operating in Egypt, and cooperation in digital capacity-building between Egypt’s Information Technology Institute and its Indian counterpart.

He expressed his aspiration for further cooperation between the two countries, in light of initiatives launched by the ministry to enhance digital skills.

The meeting reviewed the progress of projects under a memorandum of understanding signed between Egypt and India, which covers key areas such as e-government, IT industry development, digital innovation and entrepreneurship support, as well as knowledge exchange in digital capacity-building, cooperation in electronics design and manufacturing, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.

For his part, the Indian diplomat expressed his interest in deepening bilateral collaboration between Egypt and India in the communications and IT sectors.
