Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar discussed in a meeting with representatives of the Ningbo Clinical Pathology Diagnostic Center, cooperation in exchanging expertise in digital diagnostics and using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the detection and diagnosis of diseases.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the HUAWEI CONNECT 2025, which runs from September 18 to 20 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center in the Chinese city of Shanghai, said Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.
The spokesman added that the meeting took up the possibility of organizing a standardized online training program for pathology technicians and specialists, as it will cover modern pathology techniques, diagnostic methods, and digital pathology applications, which in turn contributes to strengthening their professional competence.
The meeting also tackled collaboration in exchanging medical teams, sharing the expertise of regional centers for clinical diagnostic pathology, building quality management systems, advancing the pathology specialty and research, and enhancing the skills of pathology specialists, according to the spokesman.
The two sides also discussed cooperation in joint research and technological innovation, integrated cancer diagnosis and genetic and molecular studies on disease progression, as well as developing and applying digital pathology with the support of artificial intelligence.
The spokesman stated that the meeting explored the prospect of establishing a remote digital consultation platform, enabling both sides to review complex medical cases online and provide precise diagnostic opinions.
The health minister highlighted the existing collaboration between the Ningbo Clinical Pathology Diagnostic Center and his ministry, through the central laboratories and the Secretariat of Specialized Medical Centers – in providing advisory services with pathology experts from the Ningbo Centre, which serves the entire city of Ningbo.
The spokesman noted that representatives of Ningbo Clinical Pathology Diagnostic Center were invited to visit Egypt for implementing a pilot project on digital pathology, as an initial phase before rolling out the service across a number of government hospitals.
