Bolt, a leading mobility platform offering mobility services across Europe and Africa, announces its entrance into Cairo, Egypt, marking a pivotal expansion into North Africa. With Egypt’s robust economy as the backdrop, Bolt is poised to reshape the transportation landscape in the region.
Bolt’s decision to venture into Egypt signals a strategic move to capture a significant market share in North Africa’s burgeoning economy.
Leveraging its innovative platform, Bolt is launching with an unprecedented 50% discount for all riders.
Additionally, the company returns the entire 15% commission to drivers in the form of a bonus, effectively making the app commission-free for drivers. This strategic move aims to attract both drivers and passengers.
Bolt is a free mobile application that connects drivers and customers. Bolt allows customers to conveniently request a driver to pick them wherever they are and take them where they want to go in a quick, reliable and affordable way.
Drivers registered to the platform can earn money by accepting hire services through the application. In order to become a partner Bolt driver, a person has to have a car or motorbike and all necessary licenses required by the local regulations.
Bolt brings benefits for the wider community as well. By introducing new shared mobility options, Bolt helps cities reduce congestion, allowing people to reach their destinations quicker and simpler.
Bolt’s entry into one of the largest economies in North Africa underscores its commitment to revolutionizing mobility in the region. By offering ride-hailing services tailored to both individual and corporate needs, Bolt aims to provide Egyptians with convenient, reliable, and safe transportation options.
Haitham Mansour, Bolt Egypt Country Manager, emphasized the company’s commitment to stimulating demand by offering competitive pricing while prioritizing driver welfare. Mansour stated, “Egypt is an important market for our entry beyond merely boosting driver revenues; we aim to ignite demand through competitive pricing. By keeping our commissions substantially lower than our counterparts, we ensure drivers earn more while presenting customers with appealing service fees. Our unwavering dedication to profitability and fairness underscores our belief that happy drivers are the cornerstone of happy customers.”
Eduard Suchanek, Bolt Regional Manager of Middle East and North Africa, affirmed Bolt’s dedication to revolutionizing mobility. Suchanek remarked, “Bolt’s entry into one of the largest economies in North Africa underscores our commitment to revolutionizing mobility in the region. By offering ride-hailing services tailored to both individual and corporate needs, Bolt aims to provide Egyptians with convenient, reliable, and affordable transportation options.”
Bolt, which was also launched in Saudi Arabia, has emerged successful within the competitive ride-hailing industry, providing an impressive volume of rides on a monthly basis. This success not only speaks to Bolt’s ability to meet the diverse transportation needs of its users but also underscores its strong brand presence in the MENA region.
The remarkable achievement in Saudi Arabia serves as a compelling testament to Bolt’s capability to thrive in similarly dynamic markets, such as Egypt. As such, Bolt believes that it is well-positioned to replicate and build upon its success, offering Egyptians the same level of convenience, reliability, and affordability that has endeared Bolt to millions of users across the region.
The mobility app is committed to offering all customers a safe mobility experience and is introducing various safety measures and in-app features designed to protect riders and drivers. These safety measures include:
● SOS button: it allows riders and drivers to get in contact with the police by simply pushing a button.
● Share my ride: this feature enables riders and drivers to share a link with their real-time journey information.
● In-app calls: in-app calls and messaging will be available on the app so phone numbers of riders and drivers will not have to be disclosed unless necessary.
● Driver unmatching: If a rider or driver rates their trip with one star, they will be automatically unmatched from that rider or driver.
Bolt is easy to use: customers download the secure and free Bolt app from Apple App Store or Google Play Store and set up a user profile.
When customers are ready to ride, they simply open the app, set their location and their intended destination. The app then gives an upfront cost estimate for the trip. Once customers accept the cost estimate, the app alerts drivers nearby who accept the ride.
Once a driver has accepted the ride, customers are able to see their driver’s details and can track the driver in real-time — making it easy to be sure that they get safely into the correct vehicle with the correct driver. When the ride is complete, payment is made in cash. Bolt also aims to bring in-app payment as soon as possible.
