The plane carrying the football team of Zamalek headed Sunday from Algeria to Senegal for their clash against the Senegalese Teungueth FC in the CAF Champions League, Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi said.
The team was stuck in Algeria after their private jet failed to get a permit to fly over the Mauritanian airspace.
Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Manar informed me over the phone that the problem facing the team of Zamalek in Algeria was solved, Sobhi said.
The minister thanked the civil aviation and foreign ministries for their efforts to solve the crisis.
The White Knights will face Teungueth FC in their second Group D game of the Champions League at Stade Lat-Dior in Senegalese city Thies on Tuesday.
