CAIRO — The second round of the 2025–26 Egyptian Premier League delivered mixed outcomes, as Zamalek was held to their first slip in a goalless draw with Arab Contractors, Ghazl El-Mahalla and Smouha also settled for a stalemate, while Enppi clinched their maiden victory over Wadi Degla.

Marking its 67th edition, Egypt’s top flight kicks off a new era with a revamped format, tighter disciplinary rules, and an expanded 21-team field—setting the stage for one of the most fiercely contested seasons yet.

Zamalek 0-0 Contractors

Zamalek dropped their first points of the 2025–26 Egyptian Premier League campaign after being held to a 0-0 draw by Arab Contractors in the second round at Cairo International Stadium.

The result moved Zamalek up to four points in fourth place, while Arab Contractors stayed on a single point in 17th.

The White Knights, opened the season with a 2-0 victory over Ceramica Cleopatra courtesy of late goals from Nasser Maher and Mohamed Shehata, now sit on four points. Contractors, beaten by ZED FC in their opener, collected their first point of the campaign.

Neither side impressed in a cagey affair. The Contractors tried to trouble the White Knights’ backline without posing real danger, while Zamalek failed to impose themselves, with their attacking threat limited to sporadic efforts on Mahmoud Abou El-Saoud’s goal.

Yannick Ferreira’s men pressed harder after the break, but the Belgian coach was forced into multiple changes. Moroccan left-back Mahmoud Bentayg was booked early in the second half, before Ferreira introduced Brazilian winger Juan Alvina and forward Nasser Mansi for Palestinian duo Adam Kaied and Adi Al-Dabbagh in the 59th minute.

Midfielder Nabil Emad ‘Donga’ limped off injured three minutes later, replaced by Seif Gaafar, who was cautioned shortly after.

In the final stages, veteran playmaker Abdallah El-Said and Nasser Maher made way for Abdelhamid Maali and Amr Nasser, but the late reshuffle failed to spark a breakthrough.

El-Mahalla 0-0 Smouha

Ghazl El-Mahalla and Smouha also settled for a goalless draw in a physically contested clash at El-Mahalla Stadium.

Both sides battled for control but lacked cutting edge in the final third. The decisive moment came in the 83rd minute when Mohamed Grendo squandered a golden chance for the hosts, blasting a penalty over the bar.

The draw kept both sides on two points, with Smouha 11th and El-Mahalla 12th. Next up, El-Mahalla travels to El-Gouna on Wednesday, while Smouha hosts ZED on Thursday.

Enppi 1-0 Wadi Degla

Enppi claimed their first victory of the season with a 1-0 win over Wadi Degla at Petrosport Stadium.

Tunisian winger Rafik Kabou scored the only goal in the 55th minute, latching onto an incisive pass from attacking midfielder Ahmed Kofta before slotting past the keeper with a low strike from inside the box.
