CAIRO – Zamalek and Pyramids FC dropped points in their respective fixtures in the 2024-25 Egypt Capital Cup, while Haras El-Hodoud, Ceramica Cleopatra, and Modern Sport secured victories.
Petrojet 2-1 Zamalek
Petrojet secured a 2-1 victory over Zamalek in their Group A encounter at Cairo’s Military Academy Stadium.

With this win, Petrojet leads Group A with nine points, followed by El-Gouna with four. Modern Sport occupies third place with three points, while Zamalek sits in fourth with just one point. Smouha remains at the bottom without any points.
Zamalek playmaker Nasser Maher missed a penalty in the 10th minute after an impressive save by Petrojet goalkeeper Omar Salah.
In the 20th minute, the referee initially awarded Petrojet a penalty for a handball by Zamalek defender Mostafa El-Zenary. However, after a VAR review, the decision was overturned.
Petrojet took the lead in the 58th minute through left-back Tawfik Mohamed, who capitalized on a well-placed pass inside the penalty area to fire past Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi.

Zamalek responded in the 71st minute when Nasser Maher netted the equalizer. However, in the final moments of the match, Petrojet’s right winger Mostafa El-Gamal secured the win with a decisive goal in the 90th minute.
Pyramids FC 2-2 Ismaily
Pyramids FC and Ismaily played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in their Group D clash at Ismailia Stadium.

Pyramids took the lead in the 40th minute through forward Dodo Elgabas. However, Ismaily equalized early in the second half when right winger Marwan Al-Mihanni converted a penalty in the 55th minute.

Pyramids regained the advantage in the 77th minute courtesy of forward Marwan Hamdi, but Ismaily leveled once again in the 88th minute through attacking midfielder Abdelrahman El-Dah.
El-Hodoud 1-0 Al-Ittihad
Haras El-Hodoud edged Al-Ittihad of Alexandria 1-0 in their Group D fixture at Alexandria Stadium.
The match-winning goal came in the 84th minute when center-back Abdo Gouda found the net, sealing a crucial victory for his team.
Ceramica 3-0 El-Mahalla
Ceramica Cleopatra secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Ghazl El-Mahalla in their third-round encounter of Group B in the 2024-25 Egypt Capital Cup.

Defensive midfielder Mohamed Adel opened the scoring in the second minute, setting the tone for Ceramica’s dominance. Right winger Mazen Yasser doubled the lead in the 55th minute, while South African international Fagrie Lakay sealed the win with a goal in the 81st minute.

With this result, Ceramica Cleopatra climbed to third place in Group B with three points, while Ghazl El-Mahalla remained in second place with four points.
Modern Sport 2-0 Smouha
Modern Sport claimed a 2-0 victory over Smouha in their third-round fixture of Group A in the Egypt Capital Cup, held at Cairo International Stadium.

Forward Ahmed Atef broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute, capitalizing on an error by Smouha goalkeeper Mohamed Ashraf to slot the ball into an empty net.
Striker Hossam Hassan added the second goal in the 87th minute with a well-placed header, converting a precise cross from right winger Walid Farag.

The 2024-25 Egypt Capital Cup, featuring 18 teams, is being held during the international break while the Egyptian national team competes in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The teams are divided into four groups.
Group A: Zamalek, El-Gouna, Petrojet, Modern Sport, Smouha.
Group B: Ceramica Cleopatra, Al-Masry of Port Said, ZED FC, NBE Club, Ghazl El-Mahalla.
Group C: Al-Ahly, Talae El-Geish, Enppi, Pharco FC.
Group D: Pyramids FC, Al-Ittihad of Alexandria, Ismaily, Haras El-Hodoud.

According to tournament regulations, the top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals, where the competition will shift to a knockout format until a champion is crowned.
