CAIRO – Egyptian Premier League high-flyers Zamalek and Pyramids FC suffered shock League Cup exit.
Zamalek’s disastrous season witnessed another blow Sunday night as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat to NBE Club at the Arab Contractors Stadium.
NBE’s goals came from striker Karim Bambo in the 85th minute, as winger Mohamed Hilal added the second in the in the 88th minute.
Zamalek’s left-back Abdullah Gomaa scored in his own net in the injury time.
The White Knights exited the Egypt Cup and the CAF Champions League from its group stage.
In the Egyptian Premier League, Zamalek is now fifth in the table with 33 points from 20 matches, 11 points behind leaders Al-Ahly who still has two matches in hand.
At Cairo’s June 30 Stadium, Pyramids FC exited the League Cup on penalties after a goalless draw against Enppi after extra-time.
