CAIRO — Defending champions Zamalek and Ismaili claimed victories in their matches in the 24th week of the Egyptian Premier League 2022-2023 season.
At the Military Academy Stadium, Zamalek defeated bottom side Haras el-Hedoud 3-0.
Both sides went into the game desperate for a win — Haras el-Hedoud needed the three points to help their relegation fight, while Zamalek was looking to build on that domestic league victory over NBE Club on Sunday.
Striker Nasser Mansy opened the scoring for the White Knights in the 14th minutes as defender Hossam Abdel-Meguid added the second in the 45th minutes.
In the second-half, Moroccan midfielder Ahmed Belhadji added the third in the 90+1 minutes.
The result pushed Zamalek to 4th place in the league table with 39 points from 23 matches.
Haras el-Hedoud remained at the bottom of the table with 16 points from 23 games
Zamalek’s new coach Colombian Juan Carlos Osorio watched the match from the stands of the Military Academy Stadium.
Osorio, 61, led Mexico to the 2018 World Cup in Russia where they beat Germany in their opening game before losing to Brazil in the round of 16.
Elsewhere, Ismaili beat Enppi 3-1 at the Ismailia Stadium.
Tunisian forward Firas Chaouat scored hat-trick for the Ismaili in the 41st, 45th and 57th minutes as striker Marwan Daoud scored for petroleum side in the 69th minutes.
The victory left Ismaili to 14th place with 23 points from 23 matches as Enppi stayed in 12th place with 29 points from 25 games.
At the Borg el-Arab Stadium in Alexandria, Arab Contractors held to a 0-0 draw against Al-Masry of Port Said.
The draw left Arab Contractors to 6th place at the table with 35 points from 25 matches as Al-Masry slipped to 7th place with 35 points from 24 games.
At Ghazl el-Mahalla Stadium, Future FC claimed a 1-0 win over Ghazl el-Mahalla.
The match sole goal came from midfielder Ghannam Mohamed in the 57th minutes.
The victory left Future FC on the top of the league table with 48 points from 23 matches, one ahead of second-placed Al-Ahly, who has four matches in hand.
Ghazl el-Mahalla stayed in 10th place with 30 points from 24 matches.
At Petrosport Stadium in Cairo, El-Dakhleya played to a goalless draw against Ceramica Cleopatra.
El-Dakhleya remained at 15th place with 22 points from 24 games as Ceramica Cleopatra dropped into 11th place with 29 points from 24 matches.
