CAIRO – The second edition of the National Youth Hackathon was launched on Tuesday by the Youth and Sports Ministry, through the Central Administration for Youth Empowerment (MOYS), in co-operation with the UNESCO office in Egypt.

This edition’s theme is “Youth Leading the Way – Media and Information Literacy and the New Digital Frontiers of Information.”

In a statement, the Youth and Sports Ministry said that Youth Minister Ashraf Sobhi paid attention to achieve the ministry’s mission, based on providing many programs and initiatives aimed at training and qualifying youth for the labor market.

It also aims at empowering youth for the future of entrepreneurship, and improving technological and functional skills to keep abreast of the global rapid development, the statement added.

The Youth Hackathon, an integral component of the Global MIL Week, offers a global stage for youth participation and engagement, aiming to harness innovation and youth-led initiatives to respond to the Week’s theme, in particular the growing role of digital content creators and influencers in the information landscape; and the challenges posed by artificial intelligence.
