Egyptian Sports and Youth Minister Ashraf Sobhi congratulated via video conferencing Egyptian player Seif Eissa for clinching a bronze in the 2022 World Taekwondo Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico.

In a statement on Tuesday, the youth minister lauded Essa’s victory in the men’s 80kg category, noting that this is the first medal to be achieved in the world championships at the Arab and African levels since 2013.

Woo Hyeok Park of South Korea claimed the men’s 80kg category, topping Spain’s Jon Cintado Arteche in the final.

Seif Eissa of Egypt and Mehran Barkhordari of Iran earned bronze medals.

The competition goes on until November 16, with the men’s 87kg, women’s 67kg and women’s 62kg semifinals and finals set for Tuesday.
