CAIRO – The 2024–2025 Egypt Capital Cup continued to stir excitement as the quarter-finals got underway in the tournament’s fourth edition.
Ceramica Cleopatra, NBE Club, and Enppi secured crucial first-leg victories over Petrojet, Modern Sport, and Haras El-Hodoud respectively, while Ismaily were held to a draw by Talae El-Geish in a tightly contested encounter.
Ceramica 4-1 Petrojet
Ceramica Cleopatra cruised to an emphatic 4-1 win over Petrojet in their clash at Arab Contractors Stadium.

Centre-back Ragab Nabil opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, before fellow defender Ahmed Ramadan doubled the lead just before halftime in the 42nd minute. Central midfielder Islam Aissa made it 3-1 in the 77th minute after Petrojet’s left-winger Badr Moussa had briefly reduced the deficit with a 62nd-minute strike.

The match saw late drama in stoppage time when Ceramica were awarded a penalty. Although left-winger Mahmoud Zalaka failed to convert, the referee pointed to the spot again moments later following a foul on a Ceramica player during the rebound. This time, left-back Mohamed Shokry made no mistake, sealing the win with the fourth goal in the 97th minute.
Enppi 2-0 El-Hodoud
Enppi secured a 2-0 victory over Haras El-Hodoud at Cairo’s Petro Sports Stadium.
The petroleum-based side opened the scoring in the 51st minute through right winger Mohamed Sherif, before centre-back Ahmed Sabihah extended the lead in the 73rd minute to seal the win.
Under the guidance of head coach Hamza El Gamal, Enppi advanced to the quarter-finals after finishing second in Group C with six points, following two wins and one draw. They scored two goals and conceded just one during the group stage, finishing behind Talae El-Geish, who topped the group with seven points.

Haras El-Hodoud, coached by Mohamed Youssef, reached the last eight by dominating Group D. They secured maximum points with three consecutive wins, scoring five goals and conceding only once.
Elsewhere, Petrojet and Modern Sport progressed from Group A, while NBE Club and Ceramica Cleopatra advanced from Group B.
In Group C, Talae El-Geish qualified as group leaders ahead of Enppi. From Group D, Haras El-Hodoud advanced alongside Ismaily.
NBE Club 2–0 Modern
NBE Club took a significant step toward the semi-finals of the Egypt Capital Cup after securing a 2–0 victory over Modern Sport at Cairo International Stadium.

Togolese winger Yao Anwar broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute, while striker Ahmed Yasser Rayan sealed the win with a second goal in stoppage time (90+3), putting NBE Club in a strong position ahead of the return-leg.
Ismaily 0–0 El-Geish
Ismaily and Talae El-Geish played out a goalless draw in their clash at Ismailia Stadium.
The second-leg is scheduled to be held on either May 21 or 22. The team with the better aggregate score over both legs will advance to the semi-finals.

Ismaily reached the knockout stage after finishing second in Group D with four points, behind group leaders Haras El-Hodoud (nine points). Ismaily’s group-stage campaign included one win, one draw, and one defeat, with a goal tally of five scored and one conceded.
Talae El-Geish qualified by topping Group C with seven points, remaining unbeaten through two victories and one draw. They scored five goals and conceded two during the group stage.
Tournament Format
The 2024–25 Egypt Capital Cup features 18 participating teams, divided into four groups.

Group A includes Zamalek, El-Gouna, Petrojet, Modern Sport, and Smouha.
Group B consists of Ceramica Cleopatra, Al-Masry, ZED FC, NBE Club, and Ghazl El-Mahalla.
Group C features Al-Ahly, Talae el-Geish, Enppi, and Pharco FC.
Group D comprises Pyramids FC, Al-Ittihad of Alexandria, Ismaily, and Haras el-Hodoud.

All knockout rounds are played over two legs, except for the final, which is a single match.
