The Ministry of Youth and Sports has launched the “Thousand Girls, Thousand Dreams” sports training program in a number of governorates with a focus on girls.

The program, launched in Aswan, Luxor, Sohag, Assuit, Minya, Qena and Cairo, is implemented in cooperation with the British Council.

The program aims to help girls participating in it to acquire basic sports skills, including the safety of practitioners before and after sports training, Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi said Friday.

He added that the program also aims to give participants tips on means of protecting themselves from abuse, especially during sports training.

The program contains training for girls in soccer. It comes after the Ministry of Youth and Sports established 51 sports centers in the different governorates.

The program also comes after the ministry prepared a new generation of sports trainers who attended its “Premier Skills” program, the ministry said.
